ComfortDelGro Driving Centre in Ubi is Singapore's busiest test venue, and its practical test has two halves: the circuit inside the centre, and the road section on the streets around it. The circuit you can rehearse at the centre; the road section is where most candidates lose their test, and it is drawn from a small set of roads. Traffic Police don't publish the routes, but SteerClear's practice routes from CDC show which roads matter.
What the CDC practice routes have in common
SteerClear has 10 practice routes that start and finish at CDC. A typical one covers about 9.9 km in 30 minutes. About two-thirds of the distance is at Singapore's default 50 km/h, with roughly a fifth on 60 km/h roads — so know where the limit rises, and get up to it when it does.

What each road asks of you
Eunos Link is on every route — the road you leave on and return on, with multi-lane traffic, filter lanes and heavy vehicles heading for the industrial estates. Lane discipline and a visible mirror check before every change are what the tester scores here. Airport Road is quicker and straighter: this is where the 60 km/h driving happens and where failing to keep up with traffic is marked as much as speeding. Jalan Eunos and Ubi Avenue 3 bring the residential and estate driving — narrower lanes, buses pulling out, pedestrians at HDB crossings, and the U-turns and right turns across traffic that produce immediate failures when misjudged.
The faults that end a CDC test
Singapore's test uses immediate-failure items alongside demerit points. On the road section the immediate failures that come up most are failing to give way at a junction, mounting a kerb, and an unsafe lane change or U-turn. None is about skill so much as observation and patience: look, wait for a real gap, then commit cleanly.
How the test runs at CDC
Bring your identity documents and your provisional driving licence; you must have passed the theory tests before the practical can be booked. The test begins with the circuit inside the centre — the slope, the parallel park, the vertical park, the crank course and the S-course — and then moves onto the roads above for the traffic section. A Traffic Police tester sits beside you and scores demerit points; certain errors are immediate failures regardless of points. Most failures happen on the road, not the circuit, and most of those are observation errors.
The faults that cost most here
On Eunos Link it is the lane change without a blind-spot check and cutting in too close to a heavy vehicle. On Airport Road it is speed — either drifting over 60 or holding 50 in a 60. On Jalan Eunos and Ubi Avenue 3 it is the U-turn or right turn made into a gap that was not really there, and failing to stop for pedestrians at a crossing. Every one of these is observation and patience rather than skill, which is why a scored practice drive that flags them is worth more than another lap of the circuit.
A practice plan for the final two weeks
- Drive Eunos Link in both directions at your test time, concentrating on lane changes with a full mirror-and-blind-spot check.
- Do an Airport Road session at a steady 60.
- Drive Jalan Eunos and Ubi Avenue 3 for the estate turns, U-turns and crossings.
- Rehearse the circuit at the centre separately — it is a different skill set.
- Finish with a scored mock test on the road section.
