What does SteerClear do?

SteerClear is built for the part of learning to drive that happens on the road, not on a quiz screen. You choose your test centre and the app generates practice routes on the real road network around it — the same roundabouts, junctions, speed-limit changes and awkward merges an examiner can use on the day. Then it does the job an instructor does from the passenger seat, minus the invoice:

• Turn-by-turn guidance with voice prompts, so you drive the route rather than read a map.
• Live scoring from the phone’s GPS, accelerometer and gyroscope: speed control, braking, cornering, lane position and observation are scored as you go.
• Mock tests in the shape of your country’s practical test, with a pass-or-fail style verdict.
• Advanced fault breakdown after every drive — where marks were lost, and the pattern across drives.
• Hazard and speed alerts while you drive, including speed-limit changes on the route.

There is one subscription, SteerClear Pro, billed monthly, with every feature included: all routes at every covered test centre, live scoring, mock tests, the advanced fault breakdown, hazard and speed alerts, turn-by-turn guidance and Mac. There are no tiers to compare and nothing held back for a higher plan. In the UK the price is £12.99 a month; elsewhere the App Store and Google Play show the price in your local currency. You can cancel anytime from your store’s subscription settings.

No. SteerClear is a practical-test app: it is about the driving, not the multiple-choice paper. It does not sell theory question banks or hazard-perception clips. How is SteerClear different from a route-video app?

Route-video apps sell recordings of someone else driving near a test centre. You watch; you do not drive, and nothing tells you how you would have done at that roundabout. SteerClear puts the route under your own wheels with turn-by-turn guidance, scores your driving as you do it, and gives you a fault breakdown afterwards.
