Singapore's Traffic Police have revised driving test fees for the first time since 2016 — a full decade. The increases took effect on 13 March 2026 and will continue rising through 2028.
New Fee Structure
| Test Type | Before | Mar 2026 | Mar 2027 | Mar 2028 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Theory Tests (BTT/FTT/MRTT) | $6.50 | $7.20 | $8.00 | $8.00 |
| Practical Tests | $33 | $40 | $45 | $50 |
According to the Singapore Police Force, the progressive approach minimises immediate financial impact while bringing fees in line with current costs.
Mandatory Road Assessment for Class 3C/3CA
If you converted a foreign driving licence to a Class 3C/3CA, you must now pass a mandatory road assessment before enrolling for Class 4/4P (heavy vehicle) lessons. Fee: $40, rising to $50 by 2028.
This requirement was introduced in September 2025 after road safety data showed higher incident rates among converted-licence holders operating larger vehicles.
Total Cost of Getting Licensed in 2026
With lesson packages from driving centres averaging $2,000–$3,500 (up from $1,800–$3,000 in 2025), plus the new test fees, getting a Class 3 licence in Singapore now costs approximately $2,500–$4,000 all-in. According to Malay Mail, Singapore remains one of the most expensive places in the world to get a driving licence.
