In a move that sailed through the legislature despite safety concerns, BC will no longer require Class 7 Novice drivers to sit a second road test for their full Class 5 licence — provided they have a clean driving record.
Key detail: There will be a mandatory 12-month restriction period where drivers must demonstrate safe driving behaviours. A single infraction resets the clock.
The change takes effect in summer 2026 through ICBC's Graduated Licensing Program updates.
Ontario: EV Questions and Decision-Making Focus
Ontario's written exam now includes questions on:
